I don't know the laws outside of California, but you could probably get a restraining order on the psycho ex girlfriend. In CA, if you don't have witnesses, you have to have your own documentation and usually have to pay a fine, unless there is police documentation. LIke I said though, I don't know about the laws where you are, just a suggestion. I went through a similiar situation with a friend who's ex g/f thought I was in love with him. She totally ignored the fact that I'm GAY (shakes head). She broke into my car, and that's when I got my restraining order on her. It's comforting to have a piece of paper that says you can't come near me or the police will arrest you!
If she's physical, I would also recommend carrying pepper spray. My friend's ex physically confronted me a few times, and thank god I never had to mace her b/c other people intervined, but just a thought.
I'm sorry for you hon. This is a shitty situation. It took me and my friend about 2 years to be good friends again, with trust and all (and no psycho ex) but it can happen.
