That particular article is from the journal Computational Linguistics. More current issues are here though only some of the articles are included... older articles are here. As the name implies it's a natural language processing journal, though I know there are some good general comp sci ones too... not sure what they are though... the MIT Press link above has some, but only a few articles are availiable free. Booo
Hehehe well I don't think I'll be implementing it, since I'm already swamped with work, haha... though I'm doing something related... dealing with machine translating between eng and french with the focus on collocations (or.. 2+ words who's whole means something different than the parts.. like 'operating system' or 'kick the bucket'.. so the translation can;t be just litteral). I hadn;t even noticed that algorithm there and that might actually help me with my thing too.. thanks!
Hmm, and I thought Chinese and Japanese characters were almost identical?
About the spanish thing - I feel the same about German. I know a very small amount of it (highschool german class, har har) and yet it reminds me so much of English that i always feel that I can *almost* understand. Spanish is harder because French is a second language for me. Too bad Chinese wasn't more like German
Heheh I doubt I'd get that far before giggling about how they got a stupid tattoo, regardless of meaning. Characters in a langauge you don't understand do not a good tattoo make, har har.
