saw doughty & band in chi-town at the double door a few weeks back, and my gawd did they smoke...i still have one of the tunes he mentioned -- "looking at the world through the bottom of the well" -- stuck in my head...part of me wants it to stay there, and part of me wants to throw on some '70s cheese rock to make it disappear...at any rate, if anybody has any tapes of a doughty show, and would be into burning me a copy, i'll give bux for shipping and the blank cd, plus an extra taste for the love...
heh, i was at that Double Door show too!! that was excellent. he has such a wonderful charisma about him, and it was really cool to hear the fleshed-out versions of his solo material with the band. But I do miss SC in a bad way, I was lucky enough to see them once before they split (on their last tour too, the El Oso one). They were just such a phenomenal band, and each member contributed something unique and special to the mix. The music is such a cohesive, flowing whole in a way which is increasingly rare these days: between Sebastian's booming upright bass, Yuval's amazingly creative and complex drumming, Mark's crazy samples & keyboards, and Doughty's lyrics, vocal delivery & 'gangadank' guitar, there wasn't a weak link in the bunch. but alas..... great interview! what a pleasant surprise to see that on the site ![]()
