So I've managed to keep up with the German for over 6 months and although I wonder why I bother I keep hacking away at it.
My one AZ whitegirl friend ask me to speak a sentence given the 6 months of practice and I'm like um.. and she's like seriously?! Then why are you still bothering?
Dunno. I can recite some sentences but I'm not a speaker yet.. and I'm fine with that.
After all Duolingo is just a free app and I'm dicking around.
So as I'm doing the daily lesson I realized that I really didn't know one of the words in the lesson so I had to get the app to define it. I haven't done that in a while.. so maybe I have been improving over these last few months. Even if it's mostly regurgitation because the app never explains anything and after 2/3rds it removes the repeat that slower this time I'm a a noob button.. I know the words and their meanings.
The hard part is forming sentences and sometimes spelling. Again.. I'm fine with that. I'm not expecting to gain functional German from an app that refuses to explain the mechanics of the language but gaining a familiarity with it IS interesting.
