Your going vegan!?
i shall have to come over and bake you lots of vegan treats. Its easy once you have the alternatives and the super markets have a good supply of vegan goods now.
thats awesome that you're going vegan. I'm vegetarian now, but I'm not sure if I can make that jump to vegan just yet. Someday though.
Too bad you pulled that set. It was really good. Cant wait to see what's going to replace it
Good luck with the vegan push! I'm still omnivorous myself, but am trying to seriously reduce the amount of meat I consume, so I can be a near-vegetarian. I'd go whole-hog, but I don't want to feel bad if I indulge in the odd meat-treat when I go home to visit family or out to eat at a friend's house. Plus, I gotta have my dairy.
I'm sure soy milk is tasty once you get used to it, but it goes HORRIBLE with my breakfast cereals.
I know the vegan lifestyle is a choice a lot of people make, and good luck to you with that choice, but the only way we get all of the nutrition we need naturally is to eat meat. Just telling you, from the prospective of my dietitian.
I highly recommend "Becoming Vegan: The Complete Guide to Adopting a Healthy Plant-Based Diet" by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina, it's an excellent book on vegan nutrition. Very easy to read and chock-full of essential info if you're concerned about the health aspects of veganism!!
Don't overdo it on soy. Learn how to make a really good dal. Lord Krishna's Cuisine is a good resource for that kind of stuff. Learn to use coconut milk and coconut oil in your cooking - yes, it has saturated fats, but it's really good for you and is probably the most decadently satisfying vegan flavor you will find. Avoid processed fake meat products (if you aren't already so inclined). Learn how to make bread, if you aren't allergic and don't already know how. Learn the wonders of tahini - salad dressing, hummus, baba ghanouj... Give yourself time to cook a proper meal - if you try to live a convenience-food vegan lifestyle, you will probably fail. Be careful not to lose too much weight - you are already quite slender, and a strict vegan diet will make you gaunt if you aren't careful. Remember that processed sugar isn't vegan (the other danger being that you feel too hungry and go for empty calories from sugar).
Anyway, you probably already knew all this. Good luck!
And you're the most beeeeeautiful geek i've ever seen! I'm a geek too, so i can relate! Hehe! You're brave for going Vegan chick, good luck with it, get yourself to Holland & Barratt as well for extra vitamin treats! Shame your garden path set is gone, don't know why that was never bought, they must be maaaaddd! I hope my new one goes pink, though the lighting is poop, so it probably won't, it's doing pretty well with the members so far though Hope you had a fun festive season and lets hope 2009 is a good year for all I want to meet you by the end of it!! xXx
Just stopping by to say Happy New year !!! I had high hopes of getting to all my SG friends on New Years day but things got a tad complex here, I hope good wishes just a bit late are equally well received, they certainly are as heartfelt. Hope you're holidays were great and 2009 brings you everything you wish for.
Is something going on that is forcing you all to take down hopefuls sets.. That would really stink, I loved your garden path set so much, it was gorgeous and a sin that that never went to a SOTD. You should tweak it a bit and resubmit it, its so beautiful. Anyway, I don't want to write a tome here tonight just wanted to send my best wishes..take care kiddo... xoxoxo ..Cheers. -t-
