I am a HUGE Rent fan. Like I mean HUUUUGE and when they came here, Neil Patrick Harris played Mark. I went to church (ya thats a story in itself) with his parents. I have had dinner with him and stuff for years. So I wanted to go see Rent. never had. I was mentioning it to his parents and they informed me Neil was in it. They offered to get me tickets and I felt strange about it. I am jsut that way wiht things that seem like handouts. (another long story there) SO they told me that I could "rush" for tickets. Johnathon (the man that wrote Rent) always wanted EVERYONE to be able to see it. So if you sit outside the box office, and that is an all day event, and when they open you can buy tickets for $20. You get to sit with all the ppl you just got to know rushing, and all the interactive stuff is done for the first 3 rows. Tjose are the seats you get. Kinda sucks for the first row but I was in the third.
anyway I got to go to the after party and hang with the cast...it was fun!
OH my point is, all performers should have the ability for ppl to RUSH. Then us peeps that cant afford a billion dollars for tickets could still go to a show once in awhile!
the worst thing about these ticket prices is half the performance is on tape....307 for Madonna Vanilli! I paid $12.00 in 1980 to see the eagles long run tour and that was ridiculous. The Police at 250 a seat at the Air Canada Centre, how much money is it worth to see a band that broke up 24 years ago and hasn't had a new song in at least that long! The only concerts I go to now are at bars and free at public parks.
I suppose that If one is a Diehard Madonna Fan then it's cheap,
but I never felt that much about her music to want to pay $20.- .
In '06 I could have seen Roger Waters do "The Wall" for $75.-
and since I don't like the venue were it was to be held I felt that
price was too much.
So, you like the Blues. Me too. B.B. King and Buddy Guy are immortals.
I have an old video of a concert with B.B. and Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Etta James and Paul Butterfield. I'm still amazed at their indescribable talent every time I play it.
There was a concert promoter in Boston back in the day named Don Law and some friends invented a Rock and Roll anti hero they called MadonLaw. I don't remember anything else about it but every time I hear or see her name I hear "MadonLaw" and laugh.
I am a huge Madonna fan. I have never seen her live but do own the The Confessions Tour DVD and thought she performed well in it.
But that is a lot of money to pay for some old tunes. I know she complained at one time that so many fans request her old stuff.... maybe she was pandering to those folks.
In any case sorry the tickets were so expensive and didn't hit expectations.
anyway I got to go to the after party and hang with the cast...it was fun!
wow that was long. sigh sorry!
