I know this might be a little controversial but it's just something I feel like talking about smile

I have always chosen to refrain from drugs, alcohol, and having sex with everything that moves. It just never seemed very appealing to me. In my home town kids are drinking at 13, smoking everything they can get their hands on by 14, and alcoholics by 15, I just didn't see the point. I always thought that people did that to fill some sort of void or to have more fun, I had enough fun being natural me and any void I had wasn't going to be solved with a bottle and a needle. I made a promise to myself to never touch the stuff. Now here is something I want to make clear, I will never look down on someone for drinking or smoking. If you take part then that is your choice, it's just not for me.
For the longest time I thought I was the only one like this, that maybe a weird girl from a small border town stood alone on this issue, that's when I bumped into the term Straight Edge. Honestly I can't believe I never heard of it before! It fits me when nothing else did. It's so much easier to say "No thanks man, I'm straight edge", instead of trying to stand there and explain myself. smile

It feels good knowing people agree with me, even if most people think it's pretty lame. biggrin

congrats smile on going straight edge, who cares what other people think as long as you enjoy doing what you are doing xx

Hey, nothing wrong with it. Straight edge comes off like all the hot button topics as vegan, veggie. A lot of people feel like they're being judged the moment someone says they're either of those. It really has nothing to do with how you project yourself. It's their own guilt that bothers them.
In the meantime, I admire what you're doing. I myself am not a drinker or do drugs. It's like you said, there's really no point and you're not missing out on anything.

I got your back young lady, enjoy your life
