only from my phone. Well screw that. I'm trying now
from one of my yahoo accounts to see if it eliminates
that weird double post thing. It may have a dumb
yahoo signature on it. And it may double post anyway.
Sorry about all that.
I had no idea what you guys were talking about with
the longest URL ever until L7rules explained
one of the double posts turned into a link. Durrrr.
So okay, last night I got pissed off at my aunt. I
had gone to lunch myself the other afternoon and got a
piece of chocolate cake for dessert, which I couldn't
finish so I brought it home. I grudgingly allowed my
mom to have some of it. Later that night, I go to the
fridge to have some more for myself and discover
THERE'S HARDLY ANY LEFT. WTF???
Eventually it came out that my aunt had "asked me if
she could have some while I was in the bathroom".
Yeah right. Bullshit. I had my earplugs in when I'd
gone to the bathroom but I would have heard if she
asked me. Maybe she did, but she took my silence as
an assent. And asked really quietly to make sure I
wouldn't actually hear. In other words, she just ate
it without asking me. Fuckin' lame.
So I was just real pissed. It was really late by
then, after midnight, but I decided I was going to go
down to the beach to get away from everyone (there's
no privacy here). The beach itself was really really
dark and not really safe if you were alone as I was.
I walked out but not all the way to the water, then
walked back and sat down on one of the benches only to
discover it was all wet. Grrrrrrr.
I decided I wanted to listen to music out there so I
went back up and grabbed Anniemal and my CD player and
my cheapy folding headphones (so I could still hear
the waves... my other headphones cover the ears). I
brought my all-purpose bag that I keep everything in,
including Siddhartha and my sudoku book (I'll post a
link to that book when I get back, it's good). I also
brought some paper towels to wipe down the bench.
When I got out there, our hotel's (it's really a
rental place) security dude was standing there on the
corner watching the boardwalk, so I felt pretty safe.
I sat there listening for a while and only then
realized just how stressed I had become. I was very
very tense and couldn't relax even listening to Annie.
I got to Me Plus One and mouthed along as usual but
was kind of interrupted by some stupid partiers in a
hotel next to ours. Those fuckers.
Eventually the partiers were pissing me off too much
so I went back, where I realized that the lobby, which
is newly refurbished with a nice suede couch and
armchair and new ceiling fans and a fancy modern
mirror, was a nice quiet place where I could hang out
by myself. So I sat on that couch (as a vegetarian I
avoid suede and leather but I needed to unwind and I
didn't care) and continued to listen to Anniemal, now
uninterrupted.
It was nice and relaxing. It helped my mood a lot.
When I'd gone to grab the CD and player I had also
grabbed my cell phone in case my family freaked out
and decided they needed to call, or in case I was in
trouble and needed to call 911. So I wrote a quick
phone email to NoControl (I don't know if
that SG tag will work... maybe it'll turn into another
longest link evar) and just continued to listen to
Annie. I drew some doodles in my sudoku book, I can
scan them when I get back. I couldn't really
concentrate on the puzzles listening to the music and
I was stuck with this one puzzle anyway.
But it did help me unwind. It was nice, listening to
Annie and thinking about making my Annie fan site.
And it was the first time I listened to any music
while I've been here. Eventually my mom did call and
I explained I was safely in the lobby (which is locked
at night, not a soul had come in), but she said my
aunt was worried about me so I should come up, so I
did. I had trouble getting to sleep, I wasn't tired
at all.
We all woke up kind of late today, the girls went off
to take a bus to the outlets (mom and I both refused
to drive them and my aunt doesn't drive) and mom and I
and my aunt went to the pool. I didn't change into my
bathing suit because I didn't feel like swimming, so I
just sat by the side playing Harvest Moon. It was hot
and I was in full sunlight (I'd spritzed on a ton of
spray sunblock) so I was sweating like a pig. Later
we went to the beach where I played more Harvest Moon,
this time under the shade of the umbrella.
Harvest Moon (More Friends of Mineral Town) question:
An uneventful afternoon, we had lunch at the diner
place a brief walk down the boardwalk where they're
severely understaffed and the service is very slow. I
had a delicious chocolate malt and a veggie burger
that I couldn't finish. My mom and aunt went back out
onto the beach but I just hung out in the condo on the
computer for a while.
Oh by the way, I didn't realize the hosting package I
paid for only gave me 100 MB of storage.
100 MB. That's barely any storage at all. I
must have thought they said 1000 MB i.e. a gig. So I
emailed them to upgrade to the next level of hosting,
5gb. They upgraded me today. $25 a month. Argh.
I set up a mailbox so now you can write me at an
annieverse.com address (just put carolyn@ before the
domain name... I'm trying not to write the actual
address because that invites spam). Mail sent to that
address gets forwarded to my gmail for now because the
Outlook on this laptop hasn't been unlocked with a
serial number. And I hate Outlook anyway.
So getting on with the story of today, this afternoon
mom and I went to the arcades. She wanted to play
skee ball so we did that a little bit, I wasn't any
good but I did win some tickets and so did she. We
didn't redeem them for anything.
Then we walked down to do DDR. I played a round with
mom, starting with a 2-foot dance (the difficulty is
rated in feet) and then a 3 and finally my favorite
dance Synchronized Love which is a four. Once again I
got all 209 steps! That makes me so happy. I love
that song, and the accompanying dance. It's on our
home version.
I didn't want to do more after that but mom did, and
this extreme dancing dude came by wanting to play so
he said he'd play along with mom but she could be on
light mode while he was on heavy. But even then the
dances he picked were too hard, like they had a lot of
beats per minute so even though there weren't a lot of
steps on light mode they were still kind of fast.
Mom was feeling overwhelmed after the first dance and
asked for water, so I rushed to a nearby snacky food
place and bought a small bottle of water for her. For
the last round the guy HAD to do this one particular
dance, which was like a zillion beats per minute and
it was really hard for mom. After she was done she
sat down in a racing game seat and I sat with her
while she drank the water and cooled down. She may be
in pretty good shape doing DDR every night at home,
but that was still too much for her. Eventually she
recovered and was ok.
After that we checked out the grabby claw games. I
spotted an adorable little plush kitty that looked
grabbable, so I made some attempts at it. At first it
didn't budge but one attempt pulled it free from the
rest and mom said "oh you gotta get it now". So she
got some more quarters and I did it one or two more
times and I got it!! I love that! (Pictures soon).
Then we walked down to another arcade, the big one,
Funland, which has rides too, bumper cars and a small
rollercoaster (I think) and stuff. We weren't up for
any games there except more grabby claw games. I saw
a really cute plush doggie, white with black around
one eye, and I tried for that one but it didn't seem
to want to come out. Then mom made a try, and she got
it loose from the rest. I tried after that and got it
the first try! So now I have a doggie and a kitty. I
said they're married. (Again, pictures soon).
Mom did a few games herself on another claw machine
and won a funky colored, funky looking dolphin. After
that we walked home. We've been getting along
perfectly well here which is a relief.
Mom had decided to make dinner tonight, she'd bought
some tortellini and we'd brought egg noodles from
home. She made the tortellini, I made the egg
noodles. She also put out some salad from a bag and
she'd bought italian dressing. We had a lovely meal
together, me, mom, my aunt, my cousin and her friend,
and we joked and laughed.
We talked about my uncle, who is a political science
professor at my university. He's currently in
Kurdistan helping them write their constitution.
They're compensating him well to be in this dangerous
place helping them write their constitution (Kurdistan
is a region in Iraq). He actually helped East Timor
write their constitution some years ago.
But anyway we learned today that if all goes well he's
coming back Sunday, finally. We had hoped he could
come back in time to join us at the beach, but they
kept him longer. My aunt's been rather stressed with
him away, she never does well when he's away. She's
been alone in her house a lot. It's not good for her.
Maybe that explains the cake-eating incident and I
should go easy on her. But she's a pest with or
without her husband.
Anyway bo-ring. I'll end here. Cheech tried
to call me a couple times today, he actually called at
the exact moment my cousin called us to let us know
they were back from the outlets, and called again
after I'd left for the arcades, I didn't bring my
phone because I figured I wouldn't hear it in the loud
arcades and/or I'd have to shout to talk to anybody.
Guess I could've gone outside with it, duh. But I
wanted to focus on the games I guess ![]()
Have fun everybody!

Hey no double post this time woo hoo!!! but yea the yahoo tag did show up
i actually bought a new video game on wed but of course havent played it yet. Ghost in the shell for the PS2. it was only $13...ive wanted to try it for awhile but i havent really been into playing games much so its kind of becoming a collection which is just dumb. I need to take some time off to clear my head and play some of the games that i own that i havent played yet.
And sorry about the hosting deal... I guess it's not meant for media-rich websites. How much space do you need? Will you be putting movies and lots of pictures?
