As I returned from vacation, I had another ugly piece of news. My mechanics stated that my car has over $1,600 of repairs done. I told my father to tell the mechanics to replace the oil pan. The procedure is about $350-$500 depending on which mechanic you to go.. However, my dad decides to add additional $1,100 worth of repair on top of the repairs that I requested him to get from the mechanics.

Does anybody has other depressing tales from the mechanic?

A guy I work with was quoted $4k for a new tranny, timing belt, PS pump and CV joints. He couldn't afford that so he ended up just getting the tranny and timing belt for $2,600.
The mechanic called him friday and told him his van was ready and it would be $3k. $400 above the quote. He was pissed the rest of the day. ARRR!!!

I have to get a new water pump, 500 bucks. A new AC compressor, 600 bucks. And my throttle linkage is screwed up, ? bucks. So it looks like a sad day at the mechanic 's shop is in my not to distant future.
