Weakerthans show last night;
I had a usual sunday (ie shitty) and then went to the show. I've seen the Weakerthans before, they're good, but I wasn't really all that excited this time around. We hit the merch table and left some SG stickers there, as we ususally do. Then the first wierd event of the night occurs. Middle of a song, I'm looking around and this girl is just fucking staring at me. Not even one iota of subtle either. Just eyes wide staring. Then I look away, when I look back, there are two of them. One of them waves and me and tries to get me to come over and talk to them. I don't have any clue who these people are, so I don't. *grin* When the song ends, they come over and start talking to me. Now, if I were lucky, they would've been a couple of hot 19 year olds. No, not Leningrad. Leningrad gets hit on by 15 year olds. God dammit. They're all giggly and stupid and I manage to evade them, but then get hassled like hell by Asreal and Lotus when they leave. Damn little girls. *chuckle*
So the show goes by, and at some point Lotus tries to give the Weakerthans bass player a sticker, but when he goes to get it he says "Hey! I already have one!" and flips over his bass and there it is; good ol' pink sticker. Lotus freaks out, she's so excited. By the end of the show we manage to give another sticker to the lead singer. So now, two of the Weakerthans have SG stickers on their guitars. Go us.
After the show, as we're leaving, some guy with a microphone comes running up to me and asks me "HEY! Are you Chris Murphy?!" and I said "Who?" He seemed to think I was the guy from Sloan. I tell him I am no such rock star. He still seems excited. Later, I see him riding his bike in the distance and he screams at me ... "CHRIS MUUUUUUUURRRRRRPPPHHHHHHYYYY!". Wierdos.
Then we played D&D.
*grin* I'm really tired, but feeling pretty good. I'm liking the gig scene a lot lately. Tons of decent shows to see. Next on the block is Modest Mouse, and then I think Goldie, or Swinging Utters and then, finally, Three Inches of Blood. Music makes me happy. Speaking of which, it's getting late, and I have a date with a guitar store.
