There are restrictions on sizing, format, dimensions, and a handful of other things that make shooting on anything other than digital difficult. I get what you mean though about there being room for more creativity on the photography side of things. As a Hopeful SG newbie, I have for sure noticed a formula in a lot of sets. I know as someone new trying to be noticed I've felt the pull to reinvent and replicate what has succeeded in the past. Is there something specific you're wanting to see in a set outside of what you listed?
First, thanks for responding and welcome to SG. To answer your question, I would love to see a set shot on Poloroids. I realize that would require access to a scanner OR shooting digital photos of the Polaroids after they've developed. Ok, here's an idea, and this JUST came to me as I was typing; shoot the set on Poloroids and then shoot the Polaroids themselves with a digital camera, leaving some of the environment visible around each one that further develops the story they tell. BOOM. Solves the "shoot digital" hurdle! Enjoy SG. I will be visiting your profile next.
Funny you mention that... A photographer I shoot with on here, Veganstraightedge, does a number of polaroids with each digital set he shoots. I'll put a blog up with the polaroids from my last set just for you 😉
Ok, you have my attention. What camera does your friend use (so I know which type to get)? How many exposures are you thinking? And would you mail me one of the original polaroids?
