Everyone, please cross your fingers for me tomorrow. I'm finally having surgery on my hip, the one that wakes me up in the middle of the night. If this goes well, I could avoid having to have the entire joint replaced. Which would be fantastic... Unfortunately, it is a much longer recovery time for this surgery than for a joint replacement- 4-6 weeks on crutches. It is tough to do Bio lab on crutches.

I had a long talk with my foster mother tonight, who is very concerned about the fact that I am working in my father's office full time and going to school full time (and handling a full time illness as well). Dad isn't cutting me alot of slack on the hours really, but I need the job for the health insurance. Yeah, he is truly a bastard like that. Margie (my foster mom) is afraid I'm going to make myself sick if I have to keep working the hours that I am right now- I was up at 5:30 this morning to do homework before going to the office at eight, then left the office at ten to go finish last week's bio lab, then wen't to class, then had my pre-op appointment, then went back to work, then back to school for Bio lab. At 7PM I got out of class and came home to pack up a week's worth of clothes to take over to Margie's; I'm staying with her for the first week of recovery, took care of setting up my room, and then we got into the discussion about the feasability of me getting through this year alive. I left at a little after ten, returned to my folks place, cooked dinner, talked to two of my ex-boyfriends who wanted me to call them to let them know the final arrangements for my hospitalization, and finally, at midnight, secured some "me" time.

Fortunately, I'm looking forward to a sweet little vacation in October- going to see NYC boy for five days; I'm staying with him in Brooklyn, checking out NYU, and going to see the burlesque show for which he is MC. I'm getting the extra few days because I didn't take time this month, I work weekends as well, so I can "save up" for a five day chunk. I know I'll need it. The boy and I worked out the logistics of getting around- we are both putting away cab fare since he isn't near a subway station with an escalator and I can't do all of those stairs.

I'm doing very well in school (go figure) so the two or three days of classes that I'm missing aren't going to make a huge difference. Oh, this is funny- students in my lab section are now asking me to explain things rather than the T.A.... I feel like such a nerd, but I kind of like being a nerd.

Holy smokes! I hope your surgery went OK. I don't know you so I'm not really sure what your ailment is, but I hope you get better.biggrin
I was exhausted after ready your journal entry, you're friggin' busy. It made me reconsider my always complaining about getting up early for work, because that's all I have to do. No school, no homework no messed up hip.

Anyway, have fun in NY. Thta's totally cool that I came across your journal because I was JUST in Brooklyn for six days to be with my girl!! She just moved there to go through grad school at NYU for her masters degree. Weird sort of coincidence there.
