I blame heroin. See, crack was a drug you could really commit some violence on. Dope made all the criminals lethargic.

My off the cuff hypothesis is that because these whiteboys of privilege grew up as the crime rate decreased they see some correlation between their coming up in the world and the disappearance of criminal activity.

Ok, well, first off, 3XBB in a 1-2 cash game is not nearly enough of a raise. Raise to at least $10. Also, "late position" would seem to counter-indicate the possibility of a caller and a re-raiser. I'm thinking you were middle position, which would seem to ask for a call, rather than a raise, and see what happens afterward, leaving more options open to you without having risked quite so much. Also, "minimum re-raise" meaning he raised your 6 to 10? Makes no sense why the cold-caller would fold there, leaving only the two of you to the flop, but whatever. Since you were first to act post-flop, I'm assuming the re-raiser was the button, so you were at least two off the button pre-flop, returning to my previous point. Then, post-flop, 10 wasn't nearly enough of a bet. Honestly, out of position there, I would tend to check, see what the player behind you does. Maybe cold-call the up and down if he bets, but most likely simply try and see a free card, hit the straight or pick up a flush draw and open your options a bit. Your flaws in this play were not being aggressive enough once you had decided to be aggressive, I would think. Your opinions of the size of the bets are skewed by the fact that you've never played cash before. A standard pre-flop raise in a 1-2 game tends to be around 10-12, which makes a 25 post-flop bet completely normal.

He almost definitely had you beat, meaning that your draw, at 4-1, needed appropriate pot odds to call. Once you bet 10, and he raised to 25, it cost you 15 more to call. At that point, without having all the info, I'm looking at the pot being around 55? Exact pot odds at that moment aren't perfect, but your implied odds, if you hit your straight, give you enough incentive to call there and see the turn. I hate to say it, but I would have played the hand ENTIRELY differently, start to finish.

I'm sure writing is not on your list of personal highlights after so much intensity but keep journal writing! I always enjoy reading yours...

All you need is some high end drugs within their culture and is starts eating itself inside out. However, it's ugly, ugly to watch.

Pick me for helping the crime wave revolution. I need some entertainment before I deploy. wink
