All art is derivative, but if you made it, you made it! Look at music, everything sounds like something else, and then if it is not a exactly derived from one source everyone is so quick to start listing all the influences. We live in a time where everything has been done. The only thing a artist can do now is know who they are, and then do what they want to do. If you truly feel it, then its all you.
Take a look at my second pic in my pics. There is a undeniable connection between that and Stieglitz's equivalents. The motha'fuckin father of photography is the radest photography of all time. I just look at the artists of the past as the teachers of the future. I learned more from studying equivalents and then trying my own, than any class.

Do you try and role play your pics like Sherman? I have seen your recent profiles, but I'm not sure if that is you, or you dressed up (or dressed off haha) If you are role playing then it worked because its convincing.
Do you ever try black and white self portraits? I have always had a boner for black and white photos, they just seem more expressive. Ok, I'll stop taking up so much space and stop now...
