I'm not dead!

Wow, so it's been a week of people wanting to actually drag my ass out and do stuff.
Let's see...went out with a friend who I met at Superfine -- pretty cool place. Got comped a few drinks and that never hurts! Got some food then got into a HUGE ass argument over an annoying subject that seemed relevant at the time. Or at least to my pickled brain.
Had someone over for dinner on Thursday and that turned out to be the most BORING experience of my life. Wait, let me emphasize that again...BORING! So this girl...is another freelancer. I've found pretty much everyone freelances in NYC and that nobody outside of my office has a "regular" job. This is fine but the thing that I've found is that those who freelance tend to bug out about finding work and that becomes their whole life. Take, for example, my date on Thursday. She's a freelance...bellydancer and supposedly there's this group of dancers always nipping at her heels for clients and whatnot.
Uh Huh.
So I ask her general, get-to-know-you questions:
"What do you like to do for fun?"
nothing
"Movies?"
I don't watch movies
"Travel?"
Traveling is pointless since it causes me to lose business
"...."
So, what I found out is that this girl wakes up, does work, then go to bed. She said that she doesn't leave the house unless it's for work. I asked her about food (naturally) and she's as boring of an eater as her personality. Hell, even the conversation was boring -- I had to draw out even the smallest thing about her and then it always went back to work and the fact that she doesn't have money to do anything so she stopped doing anything outside of work. I can understand that, but walking around is free. There's a ton of stuff to do in the city that's free. The one question that I wanted to ask was "why bother putting up a personals ad on Nerve if meeting people takes you away from work?". Instead I faked getting sleepy and got her outta the house.
Yeesh!
Rock on -- tonight is Slint, Monday I get to see The Pillows and I found out that The Mars Volta will be playing at the end of April!!!!!!!!! Now if only tickets will still be on sale by the time I get some cash...
AND...After 4 months of trying to get invited to the secret cabal, the people who moderate the SGNY group finally let me in.
Is everything an insiders club in NYC?
