Sigue as, valiente! No te calles pase lo que pase.
My heart breaks for you and your country. I had not heard of any of that, but I will be sure to spread the word as best as I can. I wish I was smarter as well to comfort and help. Thank you for making us aware and opening our eyes.
You don't have to apologize for your English. It's good, we can understand it, and we love you regardless. We've been having problems protesting about food here in the states as well. Our government is doing whatever it takes to prevent us from distinguishing between normal food products, and products that have been genetically modified. It just sucks to hear how things are escalating worse in Colombia. I will do everything that I can to help.
Translation to English
It seems you have enough arguments to write a Petition in Avaaz.org and start collecting supporting signatures from all around the World. This would bring international attention on the atrocities perpetrated by the current colombian government.
Avaaz members (today, more than 25 million) have been able to stop aberrant decisions in many countries. Verify this on their site. They are a respectable organization that helps to empower citizen concerns. I have participated in several campaigns and they even help us write to presidents, ministers, ambassadors, and other government officials. They are experts.
You can start your petition in Spanish, no problem. If it gathers enough attention, they will translate it into many languages. Take a look on how previous petitions are written and structure yours in the same way.
You are already receiving powerful torrents of light to inspire you with this!!
Definitely going to share! Such injustices can not confine to stand. All this in the name of money? Most coffers from Colombia here claim to be Fair Trade...does this really exist or is it another marketing ploy to the US people? The people who work the land and give sweat and blood should be the ones getting paid! I want to do whatever I can to help from our side in the US. You have already made a huge difference by informing us of the situation. <3
Thanks for sharing what's happening in your country with all of us!
Unfortunatelly, the truth is never shown on TV. We (brazilians) had a similar problem a few months ago.
Be strong! The people is stronger and should not ever be quiet!
All the best. Love, light and strength from Brazil.
For those who don't read Spanish:
Thank you for your courage. The United States Government is also responsible for this problem. Truly, the problem is going to require a lot of work in Colombia and in the United States to resolve.
Pardon my Spanish, I am a new student. Your English is better than my Spanish.
The United States Government is not controlled by the common people; it's controlled by the greedy corporations. Many Americans know this, but we don't know what to do about it.
I am profoundly sad because of this situation. The corporations are ruining everything.
Im glad you share the situation, and that you explain it in its essence. I'd like to make emphasis in some points: not only transgenic seeds will be the only option of merchandising for farmers, but this seeds, that will cost up to five or ten times more than regular seeds, have the terrible characteristic of being designed to DIE in six months or less, that means that they do not reproduce, thats why a transgenic tangerine has no seeds, so farmers cant have a sustained planting or seeding cycle, but they will be forced to keep buying and buying north american seeds forever, that will eventually guide them to total bankrupcy and the food market will be COMPLETELY owned by north america. Also, the trade or owning of natural seeds will be penalized with jail up to 8 years or more, this means the complete abolition of the farming and economic system that has been functioning in our country in its whole history!!. the fact that north america owns the farming system that provides us with the most BASIC need of any society; FOOD, will mean that our entire country is being sold to north america, actually the arriving of starbucks has been announced, and of course colombian coffee buisness like Juan Valdez will change completely to an american transgenic seeds coffee. Not mentioning the heavy health disseases that products from enterprises like MONSANTO causes, the future of our country is being sold, destroyed, this is the begining of a total USA colonization, and we HAVE to stop it. The situation is hard, here in Bogot we're in constant protests, the assasin piece of shit Alvaro Uribe Velez is buying the minds of ignorant colombian people by "supporting the protests" when it was actually HIM itself who negociated the TLC for the first time almost in its totality, by HIS fault all of this is happening, not mentioning our damned president Santos who literally said on television: "the agrarian strike doesn't exist"...
The police abuses are stupidly savage, and the media doesn't say a word. Its really sad, and our farmers are fighting for their obvious right to be farmers as they've always being. The strike has caused a total stop of food movement in the country, tons of natural products are being thrown to the garbage, to rivers, set on fire, etc. And the farmers ig stopped working in protest, so there's no food arriving to cities anymore. Of course a big city like Bogot has a large amount of food available in its supermarkets to make it seem like nothing is happening, but if this continues like this, in one month we could be with absolutely nothing. I heard small towns like Villa de Leyva are already bereft of food, and basically being fed with canned food and some vegetables left.
Anyway, I wrote it in english cause I think too that people from arround the world has to hear about this, SPECIALLY PEOPLE FROM NORTH AMERICA.
Some great pictures I found about today's protest in Bogot:
I'm so sorry to hear that. Sounds like business as usual for America. :( I hope you and your loved ones manage to get through this storm in good health and that things get resolved for the benefit of all. xox
This is just another example of how money is the root of all evil and those that dedicate their lives to the pursuit of it and destroy lives in the process are no better than common criminals.
