have you ever read any of Stan Rice's work.
He passed away a few years ago. He was Anne Rice's husband (you know Interview w/ the Vampire)
some of your work reminds of him. smile

The Viridian reference was pretty obvious, actually. Orpheum is a term used extensively in the New Decadent movement appearing frequently in the works of Michael Cisco (in both "The Divinity Student" and "The Tyrant") Jeff VanderMeer's Ambergris stories, and most appropriately in Angela Carter's "The Infernal Desire Machines of Doctor Hoffman" which is what your tale most brought to mind. Quinne is a name that appears quite prominently in Edward Whittemore's "Quin's Shanghai Circus" and in VanderMeer's "Veniss Underground" (the latter being a nod to Whittemore as well). I was just pleased to know that the references were intentional. Literary in-jokes are too few and far between.
kid_hideous:
errmmmm...still no testimonials. should i be worried?

Seriously... I'm not normally a "Praise Jesus" kinda girl, and even debated replacing "Jesus" with "Buddha" just to spice it up.

But I'm glad I got a copy after all that. Hopefully now it will actually be USEFUL to me... time to read!
ladyjane:
you deserve it! kiss
