If it's Tuesday, this must be Belgium

You're all here for the travel blogs, right? As it happens, I'm just back from a two-week vacation in Belgium (more precisely, the French-speaking Southern part of the country known as Wallonia), and was in the mood for a photo dump:

Some pretty intense action going on with this statue...

The view from our 10th floor B&B in Liège, the river is the Meuse...

Can't have an SG blog without some playful nekkid girls in it...

I stopped counting the steps at 320 or so...

Liège has a pretty futuristic rail station, designed by Calatrava...

The water gardens at Annevoie Castle were just magical...

The fairy tale castle at Véves...

City center of Dinant, birthplace of Adolphe Sax, inventor of the saxophone...

Impressive rocks along the Meuse river, a mecca for free climbers...

View of the city of Namur, where the Sambre river joins the Meuse...

Someone in Walcourt had a front yard with these cute hairdo models...

These marchers in Napoleonic uniforms marched right by our B&B in Walcourt...

The variety of Belgian beers was mind-boggling...and so was the alcohol content, going as high as 11 Vol.%

Can't have beer without something to munch on... I always try the local Lay's flavors, such as this fries-and-sauce variety. Fun fact: even if they're known the world over as "french fries", it's actually the Belgians who invented and perfected them.

Lots of greenery in the Ardennes region... some plaid, too

No escaping the two World Wars here... the region was heavily fought over in WWI and WWII (Battle of the Bulge)...

One main reason for our visit here was the Haught Fagnes/Hohes Venn peat bog area, with miles of walking paths...

Our final stop, already on the German side of the border, was the picturesque city of Monschau.
