I would say the concept of punk negates hardcore....punk musicians that sucked actually attempted to come out with hardcore but they all failed horrilble until bands like madball and all those real old scholl hardcore bands came out. There was also metal bands that were a lot like hardcore today.
Basically I do not believe that punk rock dreated hradcore
