I really don't like the new layout, here. I know it doesn't matter. It makes me want to delete all of my pictures so I don't have to see them on my own page, and I'm kind of really thrown off by the tiny box for and new placement of entering journal comments, along with the cutting off of entries. But, this isn't important.

I've said this before, probably even here somewhere, but I love that I live on an island. I forget this a lot, that all of my life has been spent living on an island, and commuting from one to another, or passing over or passing by islands. I love this about New York City. I have never spent more than two weeks off an island.

So islands have been of interest to me lately, especially, now, this one: Governors Island. I want to take part, somehow, in its preservation and redevelopment. Unfortunately I can't volunteer during the weekends, when they're most in need of help, but hopefully I can be of some service during the week. I did just join the Governors Island Alliance too, so we'll see.

For now, though, I contented myself with wandering Roosevelt Island, which I've never set foot on, in all the years I've gone right by it. I enjoyed it immensely.
