(KDKA) PITTSBURGH Governor Ed Rendell has confirmed that a new arena deal will keep the Penguins in Pittsburgh for 30 years.
As team owners met with officials in Kansas City and Las Vegas about a possible move, Penguins fans waited on pins and needles to find out if the team would stay or go.
Much to their relief, KDKA's Bob Pompeani broke the news on KDKA-TV News at 11:00pm that the Pens had reached an agreement with state and local leaders to build a new arena in Pittsburgh.
I know that maybe only about five of you, at the most, really care about this stuff, but it's important to me. This team and the sport have been a part of my life and what I'm into since I was a kid. I've always felt like kind of a dork for being openly supportive of hockey and the Pittsburgh Penguins, mostly because in any group of friends I've had I'm the only rabid hockey fan, so the few people I've met along the way who I can talk about this stuff with, I've really appreciated. Just like anything else, it's nice when you've got folks around you who get it.
In short: I loved it!
