I hate that. It's why I have a notepad document set up for anything I'm posting on SG - I try to remember to save stuff periodically to it as I type and right before I post, until I make sure it ACTUALLY posts. I don't have to do it at anywhere else, but it's so prevalent here, I just do it and then clear it when I confirm it's postedness. And I have my computer to autosave any documents pending every 5 minutes as well, so it helps minimize the risk of losing info from the notepad document (I AM in the hurrican capital, after all).
