that kid and the tazer...or taser...or however it's splled...
Is it fucked up that he got treated like shit?
Yes
Is it fucked up that the obvious intent of the "security force" there was to shut the kid up for no reason?
Yes
Did Kerry do anything about it?
Actually, contrary to the common reactionary idea that he stood idly by, he is plainly heard telling the "security force" to hold on anquestion would get answered--several times. Should he have done more? Sure, but let's all stop pretending he ignored that it was happening. And what do we expect him to do, step down from the stage and manhandle 5 campus cops? The guy eats ketchup for a living, how badass could he be?
And as far as students not doing anything, well, the plain truth is that no matter who is right or wrong, the cops win until a lawyer tears them apart in court. How responsible would it have been to start a riot because some uppity kid (with a valid point) wanted to yell at Kerry for withdrawing? Sure, every student in the place could have over run the lame ass rentapigs that zapped that dude- but who else could have been hurt?
And lastly--wasn't the screaming a bit overdramatic? I honestly don't think he got zapped, because as I understand it the reason tazers are in use is to debilitate through elerical shock, locking up muscle so that one is incapacitated. I could be wrong, being that I'm no expert, but it almost seems like by that time in the altercation he was trying to make a scene rather than trying to make a point.
Kid's got a valid point, but let's not turn him into a hero. And as much as we want someone to blame for what we allis wrong with the country, Kerry is not it.
