blyddyn:
That is a bugger. No group, and now America has forgotten the preamble to a certain document written in 1776....
holagatita:
Sorry about your group not being accepted, that doesn't seem fair at all! I'm also sorry about the sorry ass state of affairs in this country. I'm one of those people who can't even watch the news because I would walk around in a permanent state of depression.
Ignorance is bliss they say, but yes I do know enough that when I stop to think about it I'm annoyed beyond words. I'm still reeling from that fact that Bush was reelected. That was quite a blow for me and I lost all faith in this country at that time. blackeyed
merry:
My boyfriend is American. I turn to him all the time and say, "Your country is fucking crazy!" And I'm still bitter that a lot of my favourite pics got taken down.

I was checking out all the new groups today and I saw the "fuckie pants" one. WTF is that all about anyway? confused
dorwayin:
I got turned down for a pastry group. But they accepted my bonsai group. yay me.
voile:
They turned down my Tall Girl group... when the old tall girl group disappeared. Apparently they think that "Plus Size" is the same as "Tall" whatever

My rant in reply...

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
And now that we have Mini-Bush running Canada... I fear for our own freedoms up here. And I completely share your frustrations with your country... I can't believe that people are so brow-beaten by the media and what they are being fed in terms of "the war on terror" that they are completely blind to what's really going on... I agree with your analogy.. it's like an American Nazi regime is taking over. Bush and his whole money-grubbing, corrupt, greedy war-mongering administration scare the shit out of me... and our Prime Minister is now his best friend.

My favourite historical era? Hrm... I don't really think I have one... I specifically chose not to specialize in an area because I enjoy all aspects of history... from Roman to Western smile

lycoris:
shocked Hope you feel better in the morning. I know it sucks, and I rant about it too, but don't let it ruin your weekend! Ah, that sounds flip, but ... well ... too bad. wink

There's a Cosplay group, maybe they meant that one?
shellymc:
what kind of group is fuckie pants? whatever
sorry to hear that you got denied..
that sucks!
and i love that Benjamin Franklin quote..
i'd respond more to your rant..
but then i'd just get angry too!
very well written though biggrin
shellymc:
hope you guys have a good weekend..
biggrin
holagatita:
That was the first time that I'd ever been kayaking, but I loved it. I've been canoe-ing one time before too, and I think I might have actually liked that better. I fully intend to get out on the water more this summer. Growing up my parents had a sailboat and so I grew up on the water rowing around in my dinghy, and I really miss it. I need to rent a dinghy is what I really need to do! smile

I know how easy it is to get sucked into a day of yard-saling! :-) My mom and I love to do that!

And I can completely understand your Scarlett Johansson lust, she's super hot, and very sexy.

Maybe you should try a week without the news, I'm telling you, ignorance is bliss. smile
And the way the media in this country presents the news and the *news* it presents is infuriating in itself!!! Okay, now I'm going to start getting mad. smile
I hope you have a fantastic weekend!!!
merry:
I think "fuckie pants" is private, though. Curiouser and curiouser. confused

The pics I'm talking about were here, here, and here. That last one was easily my favourite set on the site. frown
vindice:

I am so ill from the constant bombardment of news I may be sick.

I hear ya. Heh. Funny how I did a Media-related degree and yet I never read any papers or watch any TV. biggrin

almalthia:
Sorry your group got rejected.

I know how you feel about the apathy around most politics, but when there are more exciting things in the news like This how can you find the time for outrage? wink
voile:
You're funny tongue

Orillia is a small butt-fuck town about an hour and a half north of Toronto. My BF's daughter and family live there so we visit every once in a while, instead of bringing his daughter back to Toronto with us.

The May "Two-Four" weekend as we Canadians so fondly call it (in reference, of course, to all the beer that gets consumed over the long weekend) is actually a long weekend because Monday is a national holiday called Victoria Day, after Queen Vistoria (I believe it was her birthday... or her crowning... or whatever. who cares.)

The SG Toronto Gala is the Canadian version of the SG Prom that took place, I believe, last weekend, in San Fransisco. Or maybe it's two weekends from now. I don't know. But anyway, we have a Gala and it's coming up this Saturday... we're all very excited.

And I seriously don't have a favourite historical era. I guess if anything I would have to pick the late 1700s, early to mid 1800s europe. And Canadian history. smile
shellymc:
How are you?
bahleated:
Hmm.... Yep. Our country sucks monkey nuts, these days. I'm constantly hearing from foreign exchange students and people on SG from other countries about how fucking crazy our administration is, and how Bush is going to destroy the world. ...I don't doubt it in the least. robot
