Yesterday, on MeetMe.com, I received a friend request from a person in the nearby small town of Waverly, who happened not have a single picture of their self anywhere on their profile. After I accepted their friend request, they immediately sent me a message, asking, "How tall are you?" to which I replied, "Compared to a lot of people, I am short." They responded to this with a disapproving "Darnnnnn" and then asked why I didn't give them a specific answer as to what my height is.
Considering this person didn't have a single picture of who they are anywhere on their profile, I found their prodding for personal detail rather hypocritical. I responded, "I don't see why I should give you a specific measurement of my height, since you don't have a single picture of yourself anywhere on your profile. Why should I give you every detail about myself, while you remain safe in anonymity?" I also found it funny that this person said that they had no pictures on their profile to avoid the creeps on that site.
I, myself, being an averagely okay-looking male (although heavily ignored by most women I come across) get occasional flirts from creeps on that site. Very vulgar ones as well. Still, I have the bravery to post pictures of myself and face the risk of being creeped on unwelcomed. Why should this person not see their double standard in messaging me, only to ask how tall I am and then judge me for not being over six feet tall, like oh so many are all too willing to do?
