I like the composition of this but his figure drawing skills lack finesse when compared to the masters. The other paintings all seem to me placid Francis Bacon meets Geiger meets Dali no man's land. Hinting at the genius zeitgeist of those men but diluting it through confused application of too many ideas and poor technical skills. On the upside, confident self portrait in number 19 and 16 seems to have an eerie charm. Just my opinion thou .
http://www.juno.co.uk/products/162367-01.htm Heres something for ya (i think it might only be avaliable in the UK). The tune 'That's Why' has a *monster* sax hook. One of the best bits out of the UK for quite a while. Jump on it if you can get down with the UK MC's .
I wasn't just referring to technical skills, Edward Hopper couldn't paint but can still evoke a 'scene'. My studies have brought me to the conclusion that great art should challenge the mind introspectively not just on an aesthetic level. This is made much more difficult when you take your visual cues from such obvious sources as you automatically associate yourself with their, in this case .. (in my opinion) conflicting self-expressions. If it evokes something new/exciting for you then cool, for me they are muddled. I always do my best to explain my opinions esp. on art, 'dont like it' and 'i love it' are phrases, left on their own, for ignoramuses (imo hehe).
I know what you mean. That beat isn't a roller like ditc 'day one'. The og of that is a stupidly rare French psych-jazz record (its still secret squirrel i'm afraid) with a couple of sax phrases on it. The guy who produced it said that there are about 5 hot loops and to wait for the album to hear most of the rest. I have decided I want either an mpc 1000 or a boss sp303 for christmas, i'm going to start making beats rather than just supplying them. Could be fun, i don't have many creative outlets, playing out i guess, but what does it say about you when all you do is replay what others have made. Warhol made a living out of it but I think the whole ready made concept should only exist within the confines of the 20th century. I hate to quote the streets but "lets push things forward".
still waiting for yours!!
