okay, so the interview went unexpectedly well. I'm still in shock. part of me knew that i could pull my shit together and make a good impression even though i haven't done an interview in years, but there was also a part of me that was sure that there was gonna be some other applicant much more qualified for the position and I'd get passed over again for being young and inexperienced. But it just went so well! The ladies conducting the interview were so nice and by the end they were talking like i already had it. Of course, there's always got to be a catch. This is the sheriff's dept. and there's a lot of stuff to go through to get a job there. I've already done the application and the written exam and the typing test. And then I did the interview and urinalysis today. Tomorrow I have to go back for a polygraph test and psychological evaluation - scary! - and i'm sure they still need to run a background check and call my references. It's all a little freaky and it's going really fast.
I'm really worried about the polygraph. I've never been in this kind of situation before and i've been reading all this stuff about how the test works and how even an innocent person who completely tells the truth can fail the test just because of the nature of the test. I'm hoping i can get all of my freaking out done tonight so that i can be calm and collected for everything tomorrow. I can't stop stressing out about it though. I want this job so bad!
so keep wishing me luck.

Good luck, and i'm sure the polygraph operator will have seen enough nervous people as opposed to dishonest, to know the difference. Just like my doctor when I tried to suggest my high bloodpressure was because I had run and was stressed (and not due to too much salt and bad living). He gave me a look like "oh realy...."
