I am also ripped up when animals get hurt. Even in the Hebrew Bible it says man was given dominion over the animals, not the right to dominate them or torture them. I just can't believe that when I was a kid--say 55 years ago, there were so many animals thriving in the world that are now at risk for extinction. What kind of care are we giving them and the planet??? We need to reel in the greed and start being the good caretakers of mother nature--maybe go back to a pagan, matriarchal or universal style spirtuality where we work together with all that is alive and even inanimate to save everyone and everything equally and with respect. Like a good mother would do with her family.
