so im back in the CT...
as me and my companions drove south to florida in 21 hours i knew it was gonna be a good trip. 21 hours of driveing in a acura integra might seem kinda hellish when you also consider its packed with 3 peoples supplys for living, one of which has to have enough stuff to start a new life in san francisco. hellish though, i didnt think so, i was just happy to be going.
as we drove farther west it seemed my distaste for connecticut grew. i mean, sure there a little gems here that one can find and cherrish. BUT, after seeing so much of the country its so easy to want more! ive never thought of CT, or new haven to be a conservative type of place but after seeing the places ive been on this trip which are just bursting with free-will and acceptance of things out of the usual i can only look at CT with a snarl. i can think back to all the times going downtown dressed up with some kind of musical instrument. setting up and performing some kind of thing that could make people entertained or maybe just have them raise an eyebrow. i remember everytime having to deal with the police making us leave. we were causeing a disturbance.
what the fuck? i hear some people talk about how YALE keeps the down town new haven area alive and without it, it would just be a dead city. thats fucking bullshit! its because of yale that the places i remember loving when i was younger are now gone. The Tune Inn, The Daily Cafe, and the York Square Theater to name a few. all gone. with the Tune Inn gone all the punks and ska lovers fell. with the Daily Cafe gone the numbers of goth kids who walked the streets everday droped. with the York Square gone where does someone go to see a good foreign film or an independent flick? now, im not saying that the punks, goths, artists and alternative types are better than everyone else, BUT everything has been homogenized into what YALE see's fit. they dont want "weirdos" walking the streets when people come to look at the campus. sigh.
im really just tired to this place. ive been here all my life and saw things change. its getting to be to much. i DO NOT WANT TO EAT AT the bulldog burrito OR the ivy noodle! FUCK!
plans: work a bunch. save money. move to new mexico. then perhaps san francisco. these places were my fav.s on the trip.
