I showed this poem to my mother, and she said that "morena" can also mean dark or dark-skinned. She seemed to think that dark is more likely the meaning in this particular case, instead of brunette. Just a side note - I have a vague memory of "morenita" and "mi negrita" being used as terms of endearment when I was a child.
yeah, they do let me know where i'd be during basic, but i signed up for a program in which we dont find out our final duty station until i make it through the whole qualification course. which is about a year and a half, when all is said and done.
i have a batchelors degree in psychology, speak farsi,and was accepted as an officer in multiple services, but i decided the opportunity to serve with a special forces team far outweighed being an officer. and, you know, im just not getting any younger, might as well try it while i still can.
