Do I eat at Wayward?, she says. Not only is it my favourite restaurant in Seattle, I am the volunteer bike mechanic on Thursdays. Anyway, I will get you a link later for the recipe. I think I posted it on someone's comments here before. I had, cabbage, potatoes, cauliflower, with Indian curry tonight, and it was so delish, and so simple! The End.
shellymc:
I've seen "Curdled" and "Lost Angels" but not "Motorama"....
heard of it though biggrin
Is it good?
hhmm.... my favorite Hal Hartley film?
That's hard!
"Trust" is definitely up there, I also loved "Amateur".
I have not seen "The girl from monday"....heard mixed things about it, so when you get a chance to see it, tell me what you think.
I liked "The unbelievable truth" and "Simple men" too...
Have you seen "Simple men"?
there is a funny dance scene in that movie to the music of Sonic Youth (Kool thing), it's rather bizarre.
As for sugar, it does mess with me somewhat when i do eat it, it makes me high for about an hour, and then i crash pretty badly surreal
same thing with starches...
still, sometimes i have to treat myself biggrin
feerlessfreddy:
hey. hows it going? thats a nice picture there. if i took one like that here in lake mead it would be an all brown photo. that food in your "steve dont eat it" was funny. i have seen alot of those in the grocery stores but never paid attention to what they really were. pienso que si viene mucha musica de monterrey. yo de ves en cuando escucho musica "ranchera" pero mi esposa le oidya. entonces casi nunca la eschucho. pero a mis ninas si le gusta. les dan riza como gritan en las cancion. y ahora, donde aprendiste tu el espagonol? bueno ten un buen fin de semana y hay nos platicamos.
surlymike:
Wayward had what they called "Southern Decadence" this morning: country-fried seitan, scrambled tofu, greens, and biscuit & gravy. T'was good, but I shouldn't eat again for the rest of the day...
shellymc:
I'll look up those films on IMDB, but i trust your judgement wink
I usually work on friday til 6:30 p.m, but maybe i can make it into boston.
I was thinking of taking that day off, but i have to make sure none of my other coworkers requested it.
shellymc:
I used to own "Trust" on video...and then i lent to someone and never saw it again.
I got the chance to see it again recently, and i still love it.
I think i just enjoy unconventional love stories, the ones that deal with love moreso than sexuality or lust. And i enjoy how in Trust, both main characters sincerly try to change for the better because of their chance meeting, but never consumate the relationship.
Yet its obvious they adore each other.
I always thought Adrianne Shelly looked like a younger ( and prettier) Rosanna Arquette.
I also think that "Leon, the professional" and "The crying game" kind of qualify as the unconventional love story i like so much.
I know..... i'm a weirdo biggrin
shellymc:
I have not seen the directors cut of "Leon..."
I have always liked Natalie Portman, however, i can't understand everyone always saying how hot she is!
Granted, she is a beautiful young woman...
but i have to be honest here....
She still looks the same as when she was thirteen!
I remember feeling really perverted watching her strip in that film...what was the name of it?
"Closure"?
my memory is horrible, but yeah.... she still looks so young to me surreal
and i went back and looked at your film quote again
It's not ringing any bells, so i'm a bit stumped!
Enlighten me! biggrin
shellymc:
"Mystery Train"...
i haven't seen that movie in years!
and yes, Salma Hayek is indeed hot!
and wonderfully enough, not emaciated biggrin
I just told Mike that i won't even check out a photoset on this site if the girl is under twenty, for some reason it makes me feel a bit perverted.
And i feel like i'm a big enough pervert as it is sometimes biggrin
shellymc:
"Closer"...
not "Closure",
what a crappy memory!
No wonder i flunked off of "The ultimate film fanatic"! tongue
surlymike:
So how was your "massage"?
surlymike:
No use in having unnecessary guilt when seeing an attractive young woman. Or having a sex dream involving one...

shellymc:
but the question is....
do i have to throw him any money? wink
shellymc:
"Closer" was pretty good....
an interesting film that hit a little hard if you've ever been in similiar circumstances.
I was on "The ultimate film fanatic" and i was off by the first question!
And i knew the answer ( i swear i did)
but my nerves were rattled, and people were staring at me whatever
so my mind went completely blank!
and all of this was taped and recorded and played for a lot of people to watch on IFC!
and my friend Jodi saw it and then turned to me and said ..."Way to represent Shelly!"
and then she laughed.....
humbling indeed
shellymc:
excellent!
cuz i'm flat broke at the moment... biggrin
shellymc:
there is always the combat zone... biggrin
the first club i ever worked at is still in existance...
It's called "The glass slipper" and this place is ancient!
much like myself..
yes, "Closer" is pretty rough...especially the dialogue, but its well done if not very angry ( understandable though considering the plot)
shellymc:
The combat zone is the street/area where all the old school stripper joints were.
The Glass Slipper is the name of the club/bar i used to work at.
I danced on and off from 20 yrs of age til 29 yrs.
Very on and off....with years in between doing it.
I danced in Ma., n.y.c, new york state, new jersey, new orleans, conn., and queens,n.y.
usually when i was in a pinch for money or inbetween jobs.
shellymc:
I hope your shoulder feels better....
have a good night!
I hope you dream about many more young ladies rubbing up against you wink
surlymike:
Always with the Chilly, never with the Brainy...ahh, c'est la vie!
shellymc:
I've actually seen them all except for "Memento Mori"...
whats that one about?
When i lived in n.y.c, i took my younger brother to see "Cronos"...
i liked it alot...
he didn't whatever
and he actually fell asleep!
I think it was too arty for him tongue
I used to love to hang out at the Angelica film theater.
They had coffee and food ( real food, not just candy)
and the best film posters....
biggrin
shellymc:
sad to say, i never went to the tribeca film festival.. whatever
"Don't look now" does have Donald Sutherland in it.
But it actually takes place in venice.
Though in the beginning of the film, i think they might be living in england...i'm not sure.
Its very creepy and surreal, and the ending makes you go eeek
Memento Mori sounds really good!
shellymc:
I'm well known for having a really bad short term memory problem.
Have you ever seen "Finding Nemo"?
"Dori" was the fish who forgot everything within minutes biggrin
Thats me in a nutshell.
you know what film i really want to see that i haven't seen since it first came out?
"The china syndrome"
I remember it being really powerful, and Jack Lemmon just blew me away in it.
But for some reason, i never see it playing on cable whatever
I may actually cave in and attempt to find it and buy it
surlymike:
Potato leek soup: very tasty indeed!

Slow cable modem connection: not so enjoyable.

If I die, don't freeze my brain -- just bury me in a box of Urkel-O's. Apparently it has the ability to stop time.

Hey! What kinda puppy you got there? My husband had a Black Lab Border Collie mix, and looks just like your baby! kiss

I'll ask him, too, about the DFW resteraunts! biggrin There's gotta be something good. There's mostly just hotels and shopping centers in the nearby locations, though. frown
shellymc:
The Miracle Mile was actually on cable last night!
I hadn't seen it for a while,but i always enjoyed it.
I think it's pretty truthful regarding how people start to react and how primal they get when in a state of panic.
Plus, i love Mare winningham, i was asking Mike if he ever saw "Georgia"....
have you?
It's an interesting film, if not a bit depressing.
It also has Jennifer Jason Leigh in it...
and i adore her also.
I thought she was great in "The Anniversary Party"
blackdye15:
We've lived in Seattle almost 2 years, and we LOVE it! biggrin

It's just the winters are way too long for us tongue

At least the summers are sticky humid 104 degrees wink
