Hawk and a hacksaw? I will DEFINITELY check that out. It kinda sucks when all your favorite artists are hermits who don't identify with people/the masses. I can totally relate... but once they get popular they disappear.
As for the south... yes, it brews ignorance. Yes, they are a lot of beer guzzling gas wasting war criming ignorant fucks running around proclaiming superiority on the poverty stricken areas down here. However, it makes for the tightest knit community of free thinkers I've ever encountered. When you're the minority you stick together and do your best to at least make your situation better, if not the community's. The south does have an interesting history (there's old 'haunted' plantation ruins to explore, too!) and a climate like no other. I guess, in the end, I have a severe love/hate relationship with the south.
As for Seattle... I'll definitely hit you up when I'm around. I think some sort of SG get together would be cool, but I don't know how to go about arranging that.
You need to check out a band called Rosa if you haven't already. And Mt Eerie (formerly the Microphones)... who you may have heard of cuz he's from Portland. But yeah. Based on our minimal discussions so far I'm confident you will like these 2 things. 3 if you include Microphones.
