Yeah, the SGNY events recently have been quite fun. But generally speaking they're more or less what every other social gathering in NYC is like: a bunch of people either at a bar or in an apartment, drinking, dancing, and acting like asses. In a good way.
I've been to a handful of the Cal NYC things, like the big game event that they have at that truly horrendous bar in Chelsea whose name escapes me right now. The group seems OK, the regulars are a little more i-bankerish than I would prefer to spend time with, but they do occasionally do some cool restaurant/wine outings.
