Te or Tea

It is a passion of mine that I owe a lot to my Grandma Mary. No, not for the 4 o'clock high tea, she taught me that tea can be almost anything, leaves, dried fruits, herbs, spices, and water or milk based. She detested bag tea because it tasted like dirt and I tend to agree. Most bag tea is weak and leaves a lot of sediment on the bottom of your cup and it's not the remains of broken tea leaves. She always preferred loose leaf tea steeped for 5 minutes for a strong cup.

I introduced my kids to tea while they were very young, like all other things they know. Here are some of the tools for the kitchen:
A water kettle or reliable 1 quart pot with a lip will work.
A tea pot with infuser. The infuser is the place where you put your leaves, whole herbs or spices, or fruit rinds to steep.
If you don't have a retailer who specializes in tea leaves, don't worry, the web offers a wide variety of shops you can choose products from. If you do have a tea reseller who has reasonably priced products to offer, by all means shop locally. In most instances, local shops offer tastings and samples to test or smell.

In this season of colds, coughs, congestion, and flu, it's been a life saver and big relief for my kids, friends and me. I owe my Grandma a big debt of gratitude. Of course, she probably wouldn't be to pleased with my being on this site. LOL
