You should have made it a state over to turn the tides as well--West Virginia could have used some Hal Sparks magic to go blue frown

I'm so glad you made the effort.

I have been so frustrated the past couple of elections because it seemed like the Democrats were never going to win against the Karl Rove brand of campaigning (which, if you're ever able to see an election in Bush's home congressional district, is an awesome and terrible thing- it's a serious blood sport out there). I am so grateful to see a populist message in the White House, and am excited that many of my evangelical friends are beginning to understand that I share their Christian values, but I show it by voting for those politicians who do things like helping the less fortunate, protecting the young and vulnerable, caring for the environment, and declining to judge or restrict those whose beliefs do not line up exactly with mine. I hate that the Republicans have proclaimed themselves the party of morals, implying that those of us on the left either lack morals or somehow aren't as holy because we interpret our values differently.

I understand that the Republican party is supposedly about small government, but the recent leadership seems just to want to shrink it enough to fit into people's bedrooms and doctor's offices.... Maybe big government isn't a bad thing, as it can be a place for people to come together and be productive, to grow the national economy, and to take care of each other. I don't think making government work for us is a bad thing. And I do think that having an administration who remembers that they work for us is definitely a good thing.

I know what you mean about it feeling like Christmas. After the last, well, decade, it definitely did. CNN didn't even bother counting votes or even looking at totals, as soon as Cali and the West Coast (BEST COAST) came in, they called it immediately. MI was jumping up and down screaming like I was 6 and I just got that new bike!

Now, we just have some work to do out here in Cali...

Election night was better than Christmas.

"I keep watching the news expecting to hear them say it was a big misunderstanding and no democratic votes will count. Paranoia dies hard."
