"Those that can, do," seems to be my motto for the month, possibly the rest of 09'.
This summer, I just made too many excuses for not getting more done. The reality is I was spending far too much time partying, traveling (not that it's a bad thing), and partying. I've missed deadlines (not good), avoided projects that needed to be closed, and just focused on pleasure when I should have been getting work done first.
I'm not going to wait and make a New Year's resolution this year. I'm going to arrest my bad habits, get my ass in gear, and move forward. Because the reality of my situation (being an expat with a great job) is that while I can afford to play, I should be advancing myself - not because mom & dad or society dictates - but because I'm selling myself cheaply if I don't. That doesn't necessarily translate into corporate promotion, but rather into holistically advancing the self. Learning to live better, maximize my potential, and so on. It's about being put together better.
That's how my fall is beginning and I think its appropriate. Some darkness to uncover some light.
