Ah, the lolcat. Such purity and brilliance. I begin to think that I think in lolcats.
I'm 1/2 way through fourth year undergrad, or my undergrad-postgrad transitional dissertationy thing... honours year for us, not sure what your uni terms it.
I don't mind liking philosophy just because I find it beautiful. Some of my friends object to that, but beauty is really underrated in the world of ideas - just because it's not tangibly aesthetic doesn't mean it's not sexy.
Loving your thread metaphor... and I can so identify. Sigh.
Am vego so no chicken soup. Porcini mushroom broth and tiny noodles with spinach bits and olive oil and just yum. Lentil soup is sexy. I make a motherfucking genius lentil soup (if I say so myself) which is so cheap and the most filling thing in the world. (It's based on George Harrison's recipe, like the guy wasn't brilliant enough as it is.)
Thanks. Actively imposing our own structures of meaning is rather hot, no?
I'm a bit too stupid right now to reply properly to your lovely long comment, apologies. Reading JPS is helping awfully right now. I wish I had his clarity!
And I'd been meaning to ask you - Kundera? A fan? I like. He helps the world oppress me less.
I came to see your lolcat blog after you mentioned it today. Haha, I love lolcats, but I must stop speaking like one. And I must write that essay before Gerald pulls that DO NOT WANT face again
