I got the chance to see the Blackheart Burlesque show in Omaha on Friday night. I was excited when I heard they were coming to town. I wasn't thrilled about the fact that the show was at Sokol Underground, because that place is a dump. I mean, it's appropriately "punk" for a Suicide Girls show, but seriously, it's pretty nasty. I saw the video that Katherine posted; and it looks like the venue didn't make the best impression. Totally understandable.
But it was a good show-- even though I couldn't see very well part of the time. All the girls looked like they were having a lot of fun. It would have been nice if Mel was dancing too, rather than DJing, because she's a real cutie. It was also fun to just people-watch in the crowd. I was happy to see that there were a ton of females in the crowd. I was hoping that everyone would appreciate a burlesque show as legitimate art, and not dismiss it as something just "for the boys," or whatever.
And of course I saw a lot of tattoos in the crowd. Always nice. Since I'm from small-town Nebraska, I'm used to being one of the few people with visible tattoos (crazy, I know). Omaha has a pretty sizable tattoo community, though. But it's really frustrating to be a single guy in a crowd like that, and to see all these hot tattooed girls coming in with their big, tattooed boyfriends. Long story short: I've got to move to Omaha and meet a tattooed lady of my own.
I know I'm kind of rambling; but it's because I've really never blogged here before, because I didn't have any followers who would read what I wrote anyway. Now that we have a new site; I really should try to blog more. I know I said I was going to blog more, like, a YEAR AGO, but maybe I'll actually do it this time...
