reset the ipod, and it should be good to go again.
my ipods have all behaved pretty well, but the earliest one i've owned [from 2001] isnt in such hot shape now. but i prolly cant blame the ipod, since i've since discovered that the cable being used to sync it sustained internal damage thanks to the current owner wrapping it around the charger and coiling it constantly. my main ipod, one form the last series without color screens, has been a real tank. i've had a color screen ipod's hard drive go belly up on me, but that ipod was really used outside all the time during yardwork and dropped too many times to count. apple replaced it no questions asked though.
