Finally getting settled back in to a rhythm here ... only 10 days after arriving back. I don't know why it took me so long to get over jet lag this time. It doesn't usually take that long, but for the last 10 days, I was going to bed around 4:30, 5, and even sometimes 6:00 am, and waking up anywhere between noon and 1:30 pm.
I don't know about anyone else, and I'm sure some of you live like that all the time, but I didn't really enjoy it. Don't get me wrong: I'm a night owl. If left to my own devices, and if I don't have any morning classes or appointments, I'll normally go to bed between midnight and 2am, and wake up sometime between 7am and 9:30.
But for some reason, shifting that two or three hours more in the other direction, going to bed at 5 or 6 and waking up at noon or 1:30, really threw me. I didn't eat a proper breakfast (for me two brtchen with cheese, ham, or sometimes Nutella, along with a yogurt and two or three mugs of coffee) until this morning. I was waking up at 1pm and then eating a lunch-type meal about an hour later, sometimes without coffee. Wierd. What's more, I can feel the kilos piling on. There's a big difference between eating 2/3rds of your calories between 7am and 3pm, and putting that 2/3rds between 3pm and 3am. I feel totally out of whack. I guess that's what death can do for you (my grandfather's, not mine).
I need to get on my bike and ride about 100 k this week.
