GLASGOW: Bands and Friends
WEll, I popped back up to Glasgow at the beginning of the week for a flying visit - one night only. It was the first time I have been up without a friend - Ann - who went to university there, knows the city and knows the people.
I had a few worries before I went. Not that I could not look after myself or entertain myself but more that I was relying on people and I don't really like doing that. I shoudl not have worried though - everything went so well, apart from one slight disappointment.
I arrives at about 12.30 in Glasgow International. Having thought I was flying to Pretwick (hahaha) it was a slight surprise to fly to another airport. However, within 20 minutes I was in Coopers on Central station. I had texted someone that morning to ask him to see me for lunch for a bit of fun
Yes - that kind of fun. He made excuses and whilst that was slightly disappointing and it was the only time I would have been able to see him it was not going to ruin my break.
My reason for visiting Glasgow this time was to see a band where I know 2 of the 3 members pretty well but have never seen them play. I was worried I was not going to enjoy it but my worries were unfounded. They were great and thanks to the lovely Irish barman who sat with me on the floor just in front of the band and used my camera to take some fantastic photos, the night was a real success.Depite lost keys and pints of Raki, the night was superb.
For the 2 days of my viist I ran around from bar to bar meeting people here and there and it was superb. I stayed at a mate's place who kindly gave up his bed for me and slept on the floor - awwwww. That was such a kind thing to do. He is one of those amazing people. Witty, funny, interesting, incredibly talented and just a good person to know. I have yet to find anything in him that I did not like. Until that weekend he was single too but is now seeing a very lucky girl (although some girl did try to get a little involved in getting him with this gorgeous girl which he seemed to find a little embarrassing - what is that phrase, the path to hell is paved with good intentions).
It was a little frustrating being in the same flat a little inebriated and quite fancying the guy and nothing happening which was for the best but still frustrating - hahahahaha (and he is gorgeous too).
I also got some really raunchy PMs from a lovely guy in Birmingham all day yesterday. He is a close friend of a mate in Glasgow so I am going to have to work on getting him to visit one weekennd when I am up. Ranchy messages and texts always always make work better!!
Life is pretty good at the moment and it is making me smile a lot.
