Hmmm, as a wife/woman I'd say you were being an ass, as is my first instinct to take the wife's side but, it sounds like she had been having a bad day and really just wanted to have dinner with her Mr. and didn't know how to express it so it just came out like she's mad. I do think she was being a bit over the top.
There's my 2 cents and that's really about all it's worth. I hope things are better with you two and her tantrum didn't last too long. BUT, you should TOTALLY do something fantastic to make it up to her too. Not that you were wrong but, with women, YOU'RE ALWAYS wrong so make up for it .
