rainy sunday afternoons...
i remember my first car.
it was a grey, 88 chevy caprice brougham edition with the interceptor upgrade. that means that it came with a slightly stiffer suspension, some better breaks, and of course a 350 ci engine instead of the 305. the speedometer only went up to 85, but i could beat most regular cars in a race. after all, my engine wasnt governed at all where most crappy imports stop you in the low hundreds. not to mention that i could get that boat up to 100 and it wasnt even close to redlining. which is why cops used to use those as their standard cruisers. that beast could chase down just about anything on the road.
it didnt have air bags, it didnt have abs, but it did have a bench seat in the front and it did only have lap belts in the back. ahh i remember the good old days before the government decided that i couldnt drive around without a seat belt on...anyways. it was a beast of a car and quite possibly also the most comfortable thing i've ever driven in. like riding around on clouds. i was in love.
needless to say it died on me after a few years of pretty hard, abusive use. but thats what i do, i use things till they simply give out (and if they can be fixed i'll use them all over again). which is why i could never have any kind of super nice car...i'd wreck it. blown differentials, head gaskets, broken motor mounts, you name it. which is why i buy jeeps now. they exist solely for me to abuse them as much as possible and then they are ridiculously easy to fix when something does eventually break. not to mention the huge over abundance of parts.
its like a match made in heaven.
rainy sunday afternoons are the best...
EDIT
also, this seems like something i should have found a long time ago...
