Five years ago I was 24, I can't even remember what I felt like back then. I know how I feel now though. I wish I had learned what I know now much earlier. Wish I had recognised the signs of my many health issues much earlier. Had I paid more attention I would probably be happier that I am now. It's never too late to make a change though..
So what are five things I would tell myself five years ago?
1. They're not your real friends
Cut out the noise. Stop trying to make people happy who are in your life but don't actually care about you. A small group of real friends is much better than a large group of people who just take from you. Get rid of anything and anyone negative in your life and concentrate on the people who are there for you, they deserve your time and energy.
2. Pick up the camera
Why did you stop doing the photography? You loved it! Pick up the goddamn camera and keep up with current styles and new techniques. Don't leave it too late and feel out of touch.
3. Being a single mum is THE hardest thing to do ever
Having a child, becoming a single mum is the hardest thing to ever do, and you have you to it while keeping a full time job and trying to live with an invisible disability. Life gets tough. Accept the offers of help, dry your tears when they come, and smile when your boy tells you he loves you. He means it, you're going to be a great mum and don't doubt that.
4. Get help.
Feeling sad as often as you do, for as long as you have is not normal. There is help out there. Go to the doctor and talk about your emotions, you can get better. Don't let depression eat you up.
5. Stop damaging your hair
You'll regret it. Embrace the ginge. You like your long hair and will pray to have it back after having to cut it all off cause it's so dead. Put the bleach down!
I hardly recognise myself from five years ago!
