A week in Singapore. With my perambulations I spent a week in a backpackers in Little India, Singapore. Little India is definitely one of the more interesting areas of Sing city, certainly cheaper and more fun to stay. A backpacker place is $20 a night (Sing$ = ~$18us). For this you get a dorm bunk, breakfast, and a fun common room with a big screen tv, game consoles, bean bags, fridge, and travel advice.

It is a great experience. People come and go from all over the world. A few couples, a few groups of friends, a few loners (such as myself). If you have never done it, give it a try.

Sing has been called boring, but it is a fun city if you know how to find the fun. There are hordes of small bars in Little India and China Town, also more expensive places in the city centre. For the more cultural side of things there are museums, art galleries, and seemingly nightly festivals (life many Asian countries Sing celebrates its indigenous festivals, plus every other festival).

Food, the food in Little India is fantastically good. A full plate of tasty veg tucker runs $5-$10 at any one of the dozens of small restaurants lining the streets. Also hundreds of vendors of every imaginable service, from haircuts to cobblers to tourist trinkets.

Singapore is also renowned for its public transport, it is fast and cheap. There is a combined bus and underground service which can carry you around the city and island speedily and comfortably. A visit is recommended.
