Hmmm....i don't think we meant to go over to Iraq to kill people directly (heh, but most marines want to), we were "looking for nukes." They just started shooting at us, remember!?!? ho ho ho ho! Gotta defend are selves. =P Oh yeah, and that whole toilet plunger thing...I'll try to stop, but man...feels soooo good....
in my 9 years, yes, count them, NINE YEARS (fuckin a) of college, as a former art major/current art minor, the one thing i've learned over and over again about art throughout history is this:
art is political. art is always there to stir up shit. because that is the nature of the beast. it's the controversy, the hightened emotion that makes it a subject worthy of being taught and taught and re-taught all over the world since the beginning of "civilized society."
given that, every artist or "artist" has a great big fat opinion about it. and while that's the point, it certainly makes it more difficult to learn about onahcountah you gotta get through these self-important professors who think they got it all figured out, and if you disagree, .....whooooooo...... no A for you, mr. man!
no friggin snot jokes thank you! i am a french major with a minor in art. unfortunately, if you aren't willing to go into computers, there's very little in the way of making money that you can do with an art major, and i gotta pay my future rent, so...... foreign languages it is!
actually, if you just read your art book, you'd probably get more out of it than the class itself. and if yer still thirsting for more knowledge about that kind of stuff, dude, go to a different college. not all the professors are like that. ferserious.
All I know about Grant Wood, is that is the MOTHERFUCKIN' Pitchfork... seriously, you see pitchforks here and there, and then there are the asshats at Pictforkmedia, and then there is the Grant Wood Pitchfork.
In fact, any commissioned artwork is propagandist by nature, and so on that note....
