Hi Kids!
The excitement just won't stop. We just found out that we've gotten our work permits for New Zealand! YAY! This is really going to happen. Part of me just doesn't believe it. I've never left the North American continent and, with the exception of two trips to Canada, have never left the U.S. Wish us luck.
I spent last weekend in NYC saying goodbye to my mom and step-dad. It was a pretty good visit. My mom managed to make it three days without putting me down or insulting me, which has got to be some sort of record. If you wonder why I would say something like that, I'll just tell you that my brothers nickname for mom was "Razor-tongue."
I honestly don't know how those of you you live in NYC do it. Some people are cut out to live in cities and some aren't. I'm not. It's just too big, with too many people. I love to visit it, though. I love all the things to do and see, the great restaurants and (for a short period of time) watching the people. The museums are great too. We managed to fit in a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where I got to see their Rodin sculptures. His work is just amazing. The figures look like they're going to get up and walk away and they're just so goddam sexy. If you haven't ever seen his work, it's worth your time. Especially The Gates of Hell, which seems oddly appropriate for this site, now that I think of it.
Here's a link: Rodin's "Gates of Hell."
