It's worse when people buy animals as pets for Christmas, but then Christmas passes and they grow tired of the animal and dump it mad
quietlythere:
this is why i don't have pets, for as much as i would love to have one, i know that i wouldn't have the time to take care of it.
venice:
People make me so angry. Like the people who just get rid of an animal they've had for years because they "have" to move some place that doesn't allow pets. I can't even imagine doing that...
dorwayin:
damn right
chuckgelman:
Yeah, that one really gets me, too.
s5:
TESTIFY!
rocketeam:
does it count like negligence if the pet escapes and never comes back?
mercie:
aww. that was said in such a way... that it was really heartbreaking. I agree completely, I guess I just never heard it put that way. Poor babies. <3
cherry:
Tell me about it )-:
spunsugar:
I get so angry looking at the reasons people bring their "pets" to the pound. like, "don't have time", "don't like cleaning the litter box anymore", "litter box smells" or "boyfriend doesn't like animals"

I want to make an island of unwanted animals just like the misfit toys and we would rock out every day.
abraham:
based on that I have no faith in the world
way too many people neglect their pets.
gerry_d:
I have not heard of many of these people but they sound awful.
billylums:
A-fucking-men! My roomate does not have the resorces. I would take it, but I do not have them either. I've had this conversation with him many a time!
aspasia:
Yes. Absolutely.
foz:
I agree but I think people have good intentions. It's a good learning experience for people. I own one dog and I love him to bits and I go home to walk him every day at lunch and hang with him in the evenings as much as possible but I could be a better owner/parent...we all could be. I never thought I'd adopt a puppy but he fell into my lap. I prefer to adopy older dogs...they're more chill and have a harder time finding homes.
daisychain:
It's true. I sometimes struggle with the fact that having fish is even ok. Most of the time my heart tells me no. It seems weird for people to have ownership over animals even if they take good care of them.
chazstrummer:
Pets are people, too!
notthellama:
awww. i totally agree. they do require care and attention and time and money and i think ppl just don't believe it when you tell them and then it's the critter who ends up suffering in the end. sucks. frown
jessickah:
My two cats are my best friends besides myself... Guess that makes me a loser, huh? Oh well. My cats are worth way more than any kind of social situation... I guess that's why I spend more time at home than anywhere else. I worked two jobs before I had my cats, and then moved into one full time job when I got them... and for that, I can only be thankful. For their sake and mine. You are a righteous woman, for sure...
fuxton:
i would never do that to my helly i got her with every intention of loving her to death
