I need to start a new business. I love tattooing, but it would be nice to have another source of income that isn't purely commission based. I have a couple ideas, and they are all artistic in nature. Seriously need to think on this some more.

Go for it. My wife and I started a business but It has completely taken off yet. She keeps busy but she can't give up her regular job....
