I thought it was you. There's been an upsurge in Norse heroes of late and I'm trying to sort 'em out. biggrin
hunkpapa:
Eh... basically, no, not really. I can't pretend to understand all the details of British/Irish history since the 12th Century (or even most of them), though I have been reading through this and this. And I'm hesitant to comment in too much detail because my ignorance might make me look a bit stupid.... but I guess I understand people wanting the soldiers of what they (presumably) see as an occupying power off their streets, or wanting independence from the United Kingdom (or re-unification with the Republic, perhaps more accurately). Though I'd disagree with part of one of those videos %u2013 the screen with the caption 'What the Brits think! / what we know!", which to me implies that they're saying all British people (though surely they mean English) think they have a right to hang on to Northern Ireland and keep it as part of the Union. Because if I'm anything to go by, they don't.

Right, that's enough politics for me for one post. I'll quit while I'm ahead (if at all).

I really really want to go to Germany one day soon. I may have said that before... would be good to see some football while I'm there. I've heard St Pauli is a good club to visit, and I think I'd like to visit Hamburg anyway. I should try and learn a bit of the language first.

Good luck to your boys tonight... while I think I've had a bit more fun watching Turkey in this tournament, I don't mind who goes through as long as it's a good game. Ok, maybe I do care: I'd like to see the boy Podolski in the final... ah, I don't know. confused
hunkpapa:
I'm a little disappointed, to be honest, after watching the game.. don't think Germany deserved it. Well, perhaps from the scoring-more-goals-than-the-other-team point of view. But I just thought Turkey played a lot better.
hunkpapa:
Well, Germany improved in the second half, but I didn't think they would get much worse. But yeah, that final goal was very nicely done.
